HRITU is a general-interest magazine about the things worth knowing: what to cook, where to go, how things work, and the facts and stories that make ordinary subjects interesting.
The tagline is the whole editorial brief. Discover something interesting every day.
What we cover
Five sections, each with a clear job.
- Recipes: cooking written so it can be repeated, with honest timings and notes on what tends to go wrong.
- Travel: places and what it is actually like to be in them, with practical detail on timing, cost and getting around.
- Facts: a fact is only interesting once you know why it is true, so each piece explains the mechanism.
- Stories: short reading, with each piece saying plainly whether it is reported or fiction.
- Lifestyle & Knowledge: how everyday things work, and how to do them a little better.
Why the site exists
Most general-interest writing online is built to be found rather than to be read. It answers a question in the first line and then pads. We would rather publish fewer pieces that give you the reasoning, the context and the caveats, and that are still useful the second time you open them.
How we work
Articles are written or commissioned for this site, checked before publication, and corrected in the open when we get something wrong. Our Editorial Policy sets out how we source and review, and our Corrections Policy explains how to tell us about an error.

HRITU is published by Hritu, an independent publisher based in Jhanjharpur, Bihar, India. It is a small operation, which is why we publish fewer pieces and try to make each one worth the time.
