This policy explains what personal information HRITU collects from visitors to this website, why it is collected, and what you can do about it. It describes the site as it is actually configured today, and it is updated when that configuration changes.
Who we are
HRITU is a general-interest magazine published by Hritu, operating as an individual, at Belarahi, Jhanjharpur, Bihar, India – 847404.
For any question about this policy or about your data, contact us at info@hritu.com or on +91 9155206350. You can also use the contact page.
What we collect, and where from
We collect only what the forms on this site actually ask for, plus the technical information any website receives in order to serve a page.
Contact form
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, an optional subject, and your message. There are no other fields. It does not ask for a phone number or a postal address.
What you send is saved as a private entry in this site’s own WordPress database and is also emailed to our editorial inbox so we can reply. It is not passed to any third-party form or helpdesk service.
Newsletter signup
The newsletter form asks for your email address and nothing else. It is stored in this site’s own WordPress database. It is not currently sent to an external mailing platform.
Comments
Comments are currently closed across the site, so no comment data is being collected at present. What follows describes what was recorded while comments were open, and what would be recorded again if they were reopened. If you leave one, WordPress records the name and email address you enter, an optional website address, and your comment. WordPress also automatically records the IP address you commented from and your browser user-agent string, which are used to fight spam and abuse.
The comment form includes an optional checkbox to save your name, email and website in your browser for next time. Ticking it is entirely your choice, and it is what places the comment cookies described in our Cookie Policy.
Every comment is held for review before it appears, and your email address is never published. Comments do not display avatars on this site, so nothing is requested from Gravatar or any other external avatar service when a comment is shown. How comments are moderated is set out in our Editorial Policy.
Search
If you use the search box, the words you type are processed to produce results. They are not saved into a search log or database table on this site, though like any request they appear in ordinary server logs.
Server and network logs
Our hosting provider and Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site as its content delivery and security layer, receive the technical details of every request: your IP address, your browser and device user-agent, the page requested and the time. This is how any website on the internet works, and it is what allows the site to be delivered and protected from attack.
Spam protection on our forms
To stop the contact and newsletter forms being flooded, the site briefly remembers that a submission was made. It does this by storing a one-way salted hash of the IP address, not the address itself, for between thirty and sixty seconds, after which it is discarded automatically. The forms also use a hidden field that ordinary visitors never see or fill in.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4, installed through the Google Site Kit plugin, to count visits and see which articles are read. It is active, and it sets cookies in your browser. It is configured not to track signed-in site administrators. Analytics tells us about pages, devices, approximate location and referring sites in aggregate; we do not use it to identify you personally, and we have not enabled Google Advertising features on it.
What we do not collect
It is worth being explicit about this, because many privacy policies claim more than the site does.
- No accounts. Visitor registration is switched off. You cannot create an account here, so we hold no usernames or passwords for readers.
- No payments. Nothing is sold on this site and no payment or card information is ever collected or processed.
- No phone numbers or postal addresses are requested by any form on this site.
- No advertising data of our own. We do not build any advertising or personalisation profile from your visit, and we hold no advertising data ourselves. Google AdSense does set its own cookies, which is covered under Advertising below.
- No file uploads. No form here lets visitors upload documents or images.
- No embedded third-party content. The site embeds no third-party video, comment system, chat widget or social media pixel. The only external scripts are Google Analytics and Google AdSense, both described below.
Why we collect it
- To reply to messages you send us.
- To send the newsletter to people who asked for it.
- To publish and manage comments, and to keep spam off the site.
- To keep the site online, fast and secure.
- To understand, in aggregate, which articles readers find useful.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
How long we keep it
We would rather state this plainly than quote a retention period the site does not actually enforce. No automatic deletion schedule is configured, so in practice:
- Contact messages stay in the site’s admin area and in our email until they are manually deleted. We clear out old correspondence periodically once the matter is closed.
- Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Comments and the IP address and user-agent recorded with them are kept for as long as the comment is published, so that replies still make sense.
- Server and Cloudflare logs are kept for the period those providers set, which is short and outside our control.
- The spam-protection hash is deleted automatically within a minute.
If you want anything about you removed sooner, ask us and we will do it.
Who else processes your data
We keep the list of third parties as short as we can. Today it is:
- MilesWeb, our web hosting provider, which stores the site and its database and keeps server logs.
- Cloudflare, which delivers the site and filters malicious traffic, and therefore sees the connection details of every request.
- Google, in three roles: Google Analytics 4 for traffic measurement, Google AdSense for advertising, and Google Search Console for search reporting. Analytics and AdSense both run in your browser and can set cookies; Search Console receives no personal data from your visit. All three are connected through the Google Site Kit plugin.
- Our email provider, which carries contact-form messages to our inbox.
Each of these handles data under its own privacy terms. Outbound links in our articles, and the share buttons on each article, are ordinary links: nothing is sent to those services unless you choose to click through to them.
Advertising
This site uses Google AdSense. Our publisher ID is ca-pub-1209429664297933, and the AdSense script is loaded through the Google Site Kit plugin on every page.
AdSense runs in auto ads mode, which means Google decides where advertisements are placed rather than us reserving fixed slots. At the time of writing Google is still reviewing the site, so you may not see advertisements yet even though the script is running and is able to set cookies.
What this means for your data
- Google and its advertising partners may set cookies in your browser to select advertisements, limit how often you see the same one, and measure whether an advertisement worked. These are described in the Cookie Policy.
- Google may use your device and browsing information, including your IP address, to choose which advertisements to show. We do not receive that information, and we cannot see who you are from it.
- We do not give Google your personal data. Your name, email address, contact message, newsletter subscription and comments are never passed to any advertising service.
- Personalised advertising can be turned off. You can control what Google shows you at My Ad Center, and review how Google uses data from sites like this one at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Advertising is kept separate from what we publish. No advertiser has any say in what we cover or what we conclude, and we do not accept payment for coverage. Google’s own terms are set out in the Google Privacy Policy.
Age
HRITU is a general-interest publication and is open to readers of any age. We do not impose an age restriction on reading the site, and we do not ask visitors their age or date of birth.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us personal information through a form or a comment, write to info@hritu.com and we will remove it.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue, or by emailing us.
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your contact message, your newsletter subscription or your comment.
- Control cookies in your browser, as described in the Cookie Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using Google’s browser add-on.
To exercise any of these, write to info@hritu.com. We will not ask you for anything beyond what is needed to confirm which records are yours.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, sits behind Cloudflare, and its forms are protected against cross-site request forgery and automated abuse. No website can promise perfect security, but the information collected here is deliberately limited, which is itself the strongest protection we can offer you.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update this page and change the date shown at the top. Adding advertising, an external newsletter platform or any new third-party service would each count as such a change.
