We publish work from writers outside the core team. If you know a subject well and can explain it clearly, we would like to read your pitch.
What we are looking for
- A specific idea rather than a topic. “Why bread stales faster in the fridge” beats “an article about bread”.
- First-hand knowledge, reporting, or genuine expertise in the subject.
- Writing that explains rather than lists. We are not looking for numbered roundups.
- A piece that fits one of our five sections.
Content requirements
- Between 900 and 2,000 words for most pieces, longer only when the subject earns it.
- Factual claims supported by a source we can check. Include your sources with the draft.
- Clear structure with descriptive subheadings.
- Images only where you hold the rights or the licence permits publication, with the source named.
Originality
- The work must be yours and previously unpublished, in whole or in part, anywhere else.
- It must not be republished elsewhere after we publish it without agreement in writing.
- AI-assisted drafting is acceptable for structure and editing. Work that is substantially machine-generated, and work whose facts have not been verified by a human, is not.
The review process
- Send a pitch of a few paragraphs, not a finished draft, along with one or two writing samples.
- We aim to reply within two weeks. If you have not heard from us in that time, assume we are not taking it forward.
- Accepted pitches are commissioned with an agreed angle, length and deadline.
- We edit for accuracy, structure and clarity, and you see the edited version before it runs.
What we do not publish
- Guest posts written to place a backlink. Commercial links are removed.
- Sponsored or paid placements presented as editorial.
- Medical, legal or financial advice presented as professional guidance.
- Content that is hateful, harassing, defamatory, or that infringes copyright.
How to pitch
Email info@hritu.com with “Pitch” in the subject line. Sending a pitch does not create any obligation on our part to publish it, and we cannot promise publication.
